Notes on the Sunday Program
January 13th, 2008By Jude T. Feld
Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) victress INDIAN BLESSING makes her return to the racing wars this afternoon in the Santa Ynez (G2), SANTA ANITA’s 3RD RACE. The daughter of Indian Charlie is a triple advantage speed figure play and that probably justifies her 2/5 opening line price. Let’s watch her run and save our bankroll for a more lucrative opportunity.
Empire Maker has proven himself a cracking sire. His daughter TURN AWAY is the filly to beat in the Santa Ysabel (G3), SANTA ANITA’s 5TH RACE. She is also liable to be a short price. I might try an exacta with FINAL FLING who has been improving with every start and seems to have a bright future.
Possible rain showers threaten turf racing in Florida this afternoon. MAKAAN makes his U.S. in GULFSTREAM’s 3RD RACE if the weather stays clement. The son of Swain has decent French form and finds a mixed bag of runners in this conditioned allowance race.
Hot-riding jockey John Velazquez hops aboard PARADING in GULFSTREAM’s 7TH RACE. The Phipps Stable colorbearer prepped at Calder and should be set for a winning effort. Hopefully, we’ll get his 3-1 morning line price.
